Fairfax, Va.-- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Senator David Vitter for re-election to the U.S. Senate this November.
“David Vitter is a strong supporter of Second Amendment freedoms and hunting traditions, and will continue to protect them.” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. “He has earned the NRA-PVF endorsement in his bid for re-election.”
Sen. Vitter voted to end reckless lawsuits against America's gun manufacturers and successfully offered the amendment that now prohibits gun confiscation during states of emergency as happened after Hurricane Katrina. He also voted to repeal the D.C. gun ban/registration statute and restore the right of self-defense to law-abiding residents of our nation’s capital.
Vitter signed the pro-gun congressional amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of our individual right to keep and bear arms in the historic Heller case and the brief stating that the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that applies to all Americans in the McDonald case. In addition, he voted against the confirmation of anti-gun Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor.
Sen. Vitter was one of the lead sponsors of the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity amendment, which would extend federal protection of state right-to-carry licenses and permits across the country. He also voted last year to allow concealed-carry permit holders to carry and transport firearms for self-defense in national parks and wildlife refuges.
“David Vitter’s pro-gun voting record and support for individual gun ownership rights has earned him an “A” rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF,” Cox continued. “We ask all Louisiana gun owners, hunters and NRA members to vote David Vitter for U.S. Senate on November 2nd.”
