NRA-PVF Endorses Woody Burton for Re-Election in Indiana’s 58th House District <BR>Representative Burton Receives NRA-PVF’s Highest “A+” Grade

Friday, April 23, 2010

Fairfax, Va. -- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is pleased to endorse State Representative Woody Burton (R-58) for re-election in Indiana’s Republican Primary on May 4th.

“NRA-PVF has endorsed State Rep. Woody Burton for re-election in House District 58, and has rated him an ‘A+’ for his leadership on Second Amendment issues in the Indiana House,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. “NRA members in the 58th District would be hard-pressed to find a representative who protects their gun rights better than Woody Burton.”

Throughout his tenure in the General Assembly, Woody Burton has maintained an uncompromising commitment to the Second Amendment, both in Indiana and around the country. In 2009, Rep. Burton participated in two pro-gun amicus briefs supporting the McDonald v. Chicago lawsuit to overturn Chicago’s gun ban before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Most recently, Rep. Burton voted to close access to Indiana’s concealed carry permit database, to prevent firearm confiscations of law-abiding citizens during states of emergency and to enact parking lot protections for Hoosier employees.

Rep. Woody Burton’s steadfast support for individual gun ownership rights earned him an “A+” rating and endorsement by NRA-PVF.

“I would like to strongly urge NRA members, gun owners and sportsmen to support Representative Woody Burton for re-election in Indiana House District 58,” concluded Cox. “Hoosiers value their freedom, and Woody Burton is the best person to serve them.”

Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.
