Erie City Council is pulling the trigger on a new law that would penalize gun owners who fail to report their guns missing or stolen. The National Rifle Association in April filed a lawsuit in Allegheny County Court seeking to overturn Pittsburgh's ordinance. The suit claims that the ordinance violates the state's Uniform Firearms Act, which prohibits municipalities from regulating the "lawful ownership, possession, transfer or transportation of firearms."
