On Wednesday, May 27, the Louisiana House passed House Bill 128 by an 80-15 vote. HB 128 will now move to the Senate while the House considers Senate Bill 52, HB 128’s companion bill. SB 52 was passed by the Senate last week.
HB 128 and SB 52, sponsored by State Representative Cameron Henry (R-82) and State Senator Robert Marionneaux (D-17), would recognize the importance of the Second Amendment by authorizing a “sales tax holiday” on firearms purchased during the annual Second Amendment weekend. SB 52 would also extend the holiday to hunting supplies and ammunition. Both bills will not only benefit gun owners, but will help promote business for firearm manufacturers and retailers.
Please contact your State Senator and encourage them to support HB 128. Also, please continue to contact your State Representative and respectfully urge them to support SB 52. To find the contact information for your lawmakers, please click here.
