Please Stand-Up and Make Your Voice Heard!
Tonight at 6 p.m. the Harrisburg City Council’s Public Safety Committee will hear a proposed anti-gun ordinance that would require gun owners to report a lost or stolen firearm within a given time period or face prosecution.
This proposed ordinance would violate Pennsylvania’s state preemption statutes which dictate that only the state can enact further firearms regulations. It would victimize law-abiding gun owners a second time by penalizing those who unknowingly fail to report the theft or loss of a firearm within the required time period.
Tonight’s meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the City Council’s chambers on the ground floor of the City Government Center located at 10 North Second Street.
Please attend tonight’s public hearing and voice your opposition to this proposed anti-gun ordinance. If you are unable to attend, please contact the members of the Harrisburg City Council and respectfully urge them to oppose the ordinance. City Council members can be reached by phone at (717) 255-3060. Email addresses can be found below.
