Please Stand-Up and Make Your Voices Heard!
In recent months, newspapers across the state of Oregon have been urging local sheriffs to release the identity of individuals who have been issued Concealed Handgun Licenses within their respective counties. Due to a 2008 circuit court ruling, Washington and Coos Counties have found a way to accommodate both law-abiding gun owners and the media. In those counties, CHL holders are now given the option to allow the disclosure of private information to the public. While this seems to be an effective way of handling the issue, others are still unsure and need to hear your opinions.
On Tuesday, January 13, Josephine County NRA members and Concealed Handgun Licensees have an opportunity to discuss this issue with Sheriff Gil Gilbertson. Although Sheriff Gilbertson has recently stated his opinion on the issue, and his strong belief in the Second Amendment, he still needs to hear from the law-abiding gun-owners and CHL permit holders of Josephine County.
This issue will be the central topic of discussion in an open forum at 7:00 p.m tomorrow, Tuesday, January 13 at Redwood Grange, located at 1830 Redwood Ave. in Grants Pass. Questions from the audience will be welcome.
Please plan on attending this informative meeting to learn more about this important issue, the Sheriff’s position, and how this affects you. If you are unable to attend, please contact Sheriff Gilbertson’s office TODAY at (541) 474-5120 and respectfully urge him to devise a way to accommodate CHL holders and their privacy concerns as the other local counties have done.
