NRA Backs Don Young <BR>Congressman Receives an A+, NRA-PVF's highest rating

Tuesday, July 1, 2008

Fairfax, VA—Congressman Don Young has earned the highest possible rating and endorsement from the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF).

“Don Young has a perfect pro-gun voting record in Congress and he is a great friend to Alaska hunters and gun owners,” said Chris W. Cox, Chairman of NRA-PVF. “The NRA Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Congressman Don Young for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives.”

As a Congressman, Don Young continues to be a leader in every pro-freedom effort. He has co-sponsored NRA legislative efforts to restore self-defense rights to residents of the District of Columbia, provide national concealed carry reciprocity and supported the historic congressional amicus brief in favor of the Second Amendment that was upheld last week by the U.S. Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller.

Rep. Young also voted to stop frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers and dealers, to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency and to bring much-needed reforms and modernizations to BATFE operations. This spring, Young authored and sponsored a resolution to honor the late Charlton Heston and his family.

Congressman Young has also steadfastly protected America's rich hunting tradition. Young has led the fight to continue to allow Alaskans, not D.C. bureaucrats, to determine how to manage their state wildlife, and has worked to preserve the sport of hunting for future generations. He also serves on NRA’s Board of Directors.

“The choice is clear. Congressman Don Young's consistent leadership has earned him the trust and support of NRA members in Alaska,” concluded Cox. “We encourage fellow Alaskan NRA members, hunters and gun owners to vote Don Young for Congress this November.”
