NRA-PVF Endorses Lindsey Graham for U.S. Senate

Thursday, April 17, 2008

FAIRFAX, VA-The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Lindsey Graham for re-election to the U.S. Senate in South Carolina.

“Lindsey Graham, an NRA-PVF ‘A’ rated candidate, is a friend of freedom. He believes that the Constitution protects law-abiding citizens’ fundamental right to keep and bear arms, and he has a stellar voting record to prove it,” said Chris W. Cox. “He is also a friend of law enforcement and knows that the key to reducing crime is to enforce existing laws and ensure that the full burden of our laws fall on the criminal.”

“I’m honored to have the endorsement of the National Rifle Association,” said Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC). “I have been an avid hunter all of my life, and like an overwhelming majority of South Carolinians, I strongly support the right to keep and bear arms. I will continue to defend the Second Amendment from those in Congress who wish to infringe upon our rights. Elections matter, and this year’s election offers all Americans another opportunity to reaffirm our strong support for the Second Amendment.”

Sen. Graham has demonstrated his unwavering support of pro-gun legislation during his tenure in both the House and the Senate. In his current term in the Senate, Lindsey Graham was instrumental in the passage of legislation to curb frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers for gun-related harm caused by criminals. He also signed on to the Congressional amicus brief to the Supreme Court in the case of Heller v. District of Columbia, holding that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms.

Cox continued, “Lindsey Graham believes in South Carolina values, and will continue to be a true and consistent friend in the U.S. Senate. To successfully preserve these positive movements, gun-owners and NRA members must continue to vote for candidates who support our Second Amendment at all levels of local, state and federal government.”

Chris W. Cox serves as Executive Director and Chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.
