With the Indiana General Assembly getting set to reconvene on Tuesday, January 8, several pro-Second Amendment bills have been filed and referred to their respective committees. State Senator and NRA Board Member Johnny Nugent (R-43) has authored and introduced Senate Bill 65 and Senate Bill 66, two measures that will greatly enhance the rights of Indiana’s law-abiding gun owners. SB65 provides that any person possessing a valid Indiana concealed carry permit may not be prohibited from possessing a handgun on land or in buildings or structures owned or operated by the state of a political subdivision of the state. SB66 will ensure that law-abiding firearm owners may store lawfully possessed firearms in locked vehicles at their place of employment.
On the House side, State Representatives Eric Koch (R-65) and Dave Cheatham (D-69) have introduced House Bill 1043, the Disaster Recovery Protection Act – a measure that will ensure the protection of your Second Amendment freedoms during a state of emergency or disaster in the Hoosier State.
Our thanks to Senator Nugent and Representatives Koch and Cheatham for their leadership on these important issues. Please contact both of your State Senator at (317) 232-9400 as well as you State Representative at (317) 232-9600 to strongly urge them to cosponsor and vote in support of SB65, SB66 and HB1043!
