During a four-week period in 2005, 100 dead dogs were found in a trash receptacle behind a supermarket in Ahoskie, N.C. According to the Associated Press, police forces decided to stake-out the area and eventually saw two people, Andrew B. Cook and Adria Joy, step out of a van and start heaving heavy plastic bags into the dumpster. After detaining the suspects, the officers found an additional 18 dead dogs in the dumpster and 13 still left in the van, which was registered to the headquarters of PETA.
