Finding a place to hunt in a private-property state such as Texas can be a problem. Most hunters who are serious about deer and bird hunting lease trespass rights to private land, a practice called "getting a hunting lease." Openings on private hunting leases are few, and gaining a toehold in an established camp is difficult and expensive. As overwhelming as the big numbers can be, there are low-cost alternatives to high-dollar hunting costs.
