The Pennsylvania Game Commission announced that 2005 was the safest hunting year in the more than 90 years that records have been kept. Last year, there were 47 hunting-related shooting incidents (HRSIs), including three fatalities. In addition, the incident rate of 4.92 per 100,000 participants was the lowest on record.
