On Friday, May 12, in a move dictated by partisan politics, Governor John Lynch (D) vetoed Senate Bill 318, the “Castle Doctrine.”
SB 318, would have reformed "Castle Doctrine" laws so that: (1) a person would have the right to meet force with force to protect himself or herself and family members regardless of their location, and (2) there would be no "duty to retreat" from any place a person may lawfully be.
A special thank you to all NRA members for your calls and emails in support of SB 318 during the legislative session. Without your steadfast support, SB 318 would not have made it to the Governor’s desk.
