South Dakota law should make it clear that people who are threatened and fear injury or death can use force for self-defense, the Senate Judiciary Committee decided in a 6-1 vote. Rep. Alan Hanks (R-Rapid City) said HB1134 makes it clear that people may repel attackers and protect property against theft or damage.
