Gov. Jeb Bush on June 23 touted a 6% decrease in Florida`s major-crime rate last year as evidence that a get-tough approach is working. During a press conference, Bush said longer sentencing laws, vigorous prosecution and increased spending on prisons have pushed crime to a 34-year low.
