A bill has been introduced in the New York General Assembly that poses a direct threat to hunters. Assembly Bill 1850 would make it a crime to intentionally harm or kill wildlife. While the bill doesn't directly mention or ban hunting--it would open the door to a host of potential lawsuits from anti-hunters.
The Humane Society of the United States recently announced an animal litigation division whose sole purpose is to use laws like AB 1850 to sue hunting out of existence. Hunters should recognize AB 1850 for what it is, a backdoor way of restricting and eliminating hunting.
