On Wednesday, August 7, SCA 12 (Perata), a measure that sought to levy a five-cent tax on ammunition components for the purpose of funding trauma centers, was pulled from the Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee agenda for lack of committee support. The measure won`t be officially declared "dead" until the end of this legislative session, however, it appears to be heaving its last breath. The product liability bills, AB 496 (Koretz) and SB 682 (Perata), are awaiting floor votes in the opposing houses and could come up at any time. It is vital that NRA members keep up the phone calls and letters opposing both measures.
