Brian Richardson, hearing a commotion in his Mitchell, Ill.,
home, opened his bedroom door, saw an intruder and closed the door
again. The intruder fired a shotgun blast through the door,
wounding the homeowner and his wife, but Richardson grabbed a
handgun and shotgun and returned fire, driving the attacker away.
Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the "lobbying" arm of the National Rifle Association of America.
