As James Taylor prepared for bed, he spied a man going through his car outside his Anna Maria, Fla., home. The homeowner got his handgun and went out to confront the intruder, ordering the man away from the vehicle. When the intruder reached for a gun in his belt, Taylor rushed forward to pin the man's arms. During the ensuing struggle, Taylor shot and killed his assailant. He was not charged.
