Staying late in his Chicago store one night, George Perez
watched as five men smashed a window and entered the store. The
store owner drew his registered handgun and ordered the men to
leave, but instead they advanced menacingly. Perez then fired and
chased them off. One would-be burglar still clutching stolen goods
was found dead outside. Police said Perez acted in self-defense.
