Forced at knife-point into a back room and tied up, Memphis, Tenn., grocer John Partain freed himself while the would-be thief was occupied at the cash register. Partain got his handgun and attempted to stop the man, but was forced to shoot when the criminal came at him. Wounded in the abdomen, the robber was hospitalized and later arrested.
