After taking his dog for a walk, Ben Kaplan of Fort Worth, Tex., came home to witness a man breaking a window at the rear of his house. When the dog barked, the would-be housebreaker threatened to kill the animal, then fired gunshots that struck the homeowner in each arm. Kaplan, 74, returned fire and wounded the man, who fled. The 20-year-old criminal was arrested at a nearby residence.
