Three ski-masked robbers lost their nerve and ran when restaurant manager Edmong Ng confronted them with a pistol in his West Pittsburg, Calif., hamburger stand. They had the drop on Ng's wife, but forgot their demands for cash and fled when Ng appeared behind them.

Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the "lobbying" arm of the National Rifle Association of America.
