Rhode Island: Gun Bans On Tap In Providence Next Week

On Wednesday April 8, the House Judiciary Committee will meet in the House Lounge at 4 p.m. to launch an historic attack on your Second Amendment rights. Anti-gun lawmakers will seek to advance their most aggressive gun ban package ever!

Anti-gun extremists in Providence want to completely strip the rights of law-abiding gun owners as their new assault includes gun rationing, attacks on concealed carry, range harassment, age restrictions, background checks on ammunition, manufacturer liability, mandatory $1 million insurance policies for gun owners and a ban on possessing semi-autos.

Your immediate help is needed! Please contact House Judiciary Committee members and House Speaker Joe Shekarchi and respectfully request a NO vote on these bills.

There are currently 18 gun bills on the agenda, and the overwhelming majority of them are bad.  A full agenda can be found here:  agenda-21460.pdf

The worst of the worst include:

H.7035 adopts a gun rationing scheme where government permission is only given to buy one gun a month.

H.8073 adds "possession" to last year’s ban on the sale or transfer of semi-autos. There is no grandfathering, and the legislation creates a felony with harsh penalties. Those who fail to get rid of their guns face a maximum penalty of $10,000 and a 10-year prison sentence.

H.8071 prohibits the sale or transfer of ammunition unless the purchaser successfully undergoes a background check.  This legislation would force the state of Rhode Island to create a database as NICS cannot be used for anything other than firearms transfers.

H.8075 forces anyone who owns firearms to maintain an insurance policy of at least $1,000,000.  This is all part of their scheme to make exercising your constitutional rights completely unaffordable.

All of this is coming on the heels of the Legislature passing magazine restrictions and a semi-auto ban as recently as last session.  Anyone who thought they would be satisfied is wrong.  Their intention is to completely ban your Second Amendment rights.  Act today!

Please stay tuned to your inbox for more NRA-ILA updates.
