Tomorrow, the Arizona Senate Committee on Judiciary and Elections will hear SB 1068, and SB 1069; legislation that protects lawful campus carry, safeguards firearm transportation and storage, and removes suppressors from the state’s prohibited weapons list. Please use the Take Action button below to contact members of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Elections and urge them to SUPPORT SB 1068, and SB 1069.
SB 1068 prohibits governing boards of universities, colleges, and community colleges from enacting or enforcing any policy preventing the carrying of concealed handguns by carry permit holders or preventing citizens from lawfully transporting or storing firearms in locked vehicles hidden from view. Adults who are officially licensed to carry a firearm for self-defense should not be prevented from doing so simply because they seek higher education. This legislation is identical to SB 1014 from last session, which was vetoed by Governor Hobbs.
SB 1069 removes “muffling devices,” commonly known as suppressors, from Arizona’s list of prohibited weapons, ensuring state law is consistent with federal law and protecting the rights of law-abiding firearm owners. This bill mirrors SB 1020 from last session, which was also vetoed by Governor Hobbs.
NRA-ILA will continue to monitor these bills and keep you informed of any developments affecting your Second Amendment rights.
