In case you missed the media firestorm last week, a progressive professor at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor, Maine, has come under fire for her emails belittling a student for her religious beliefs and views on the Second Amendment. Sadly, administrators have yet to take action, prompting a response by Republican lawmakers in Augusta who are calling for the professor to be fired.

On Monday, July 7th, House and Senate Republicans published a letter to the President of the Maine Community College System and the President of Eastern Maine Community College demanding that action be taken against the professor, who reportedly earns over $160,000 a year in taxpayer-funded salary and benefits. In the letter, lawmakers also note that research conducted by the University of North Carolina shows that nearly 70% of conservative students fear retaliation and harassment in America's institutions of higher education.

In one instance, former students brought forward new emails sent by the professor, who cancelled class and unleashed an anti-Trump tirade on her students via email.
