In an egregious show of favoritism by the Legislature, the House and Senate Judiciary Committees will be holding a joint "informational" hearing on gun control on Thursday, March 13th. Testimony at the hearing is by invitation only, and the testimonial speakers are exclusively from gun control advocacy groups, with not a single seat at the table for Second Amendment advocates. The Judiciary Committees have made their intentions clear that they have no intention of listening to both sides of the argument when it comes to your rights.
While no bills have been scheduled for the hearing, we can assume that some of the bills pre-filed for this session will be part of the one-sided conversation. Please contact members of the Judiciary Committees directly by using the TAKE ACTION button below and urge them to OPPOSE the bills listed below, and all future gun control proposals!
SB 429 implements a mandatory 72 hour waiting period, with possible indefinite delays for firearm acquisition.
SB 697 prohibits persons under 21 from possessing firearms, with exceptions for; police, military, single shot rifles, double barrel shotguns, repeating rifles (bolt, lever, pump, straight-pull or revolving action), .22 cal. rifles, muzzleloaders, shotguns with pump, break, or revolving actions, and temporary possession if transferred by a parent or guardian.
SB 698 repeals statewide preemption laws, allowing municipalities to prohibit firearms and limits affirmative defenses for CHL holders.
HB 3075 modifies provisions of Ballot Measure 114, which is currently prohibited from enactment under constitutional challenge.
