Urge Your Senators to Confirm Doug Burgum!

Dear NRA Member:

Last week, the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources advanced President Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of the Interior, Governor Doug Burgum. Burgum, the former Governor of North Dakota, cleared the Senate panel by a vote of 18-2. This nomination now heads to the full Senate, where a confirmation vote could occur as early as this week.

The Department of the Interior is tasked with managing our nation’s public lands, including opportunities for hunting and recreational shooting. The Department sets policies for the use of these lands and the rules that govern the activities therein. As a hunter, avid outdoorsman, and Second Amendment champion, Doug Burgum is uniquely qualified to become the next Secretary of the Interior.

Burgum was first elected to serve as Governor of North Dakota in 2016. In 2020, he was overwhelmingly re-elected to a second term. During his time in office, Governor Burgum demonstrated a profound commitment to the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans and a deep respect for our hunting heritage.

As Governor, Burgum signed several NRA-sponsored pieces of legislation into law. Upon entering office, he signed a bill to make North Dakota the 12th state to enact Constitutional Carry. Burgum signed the state’s “Stand Your Ground” law, expanded opportunities to lawfully carry, and declared North Dakota as a “Second Amendment Sanctuary State.” Most recently, he signed legislation to protect the privacy rights of his citizens by prohibiting credit card issuers from surveilling lawful purchases.

The NRA is proud to stand with Governor Burgum and we encourage all members, hunters, and gun owners across the country to take action in support of his confirmation.
