Vermont: Tell Governor Scott to Veto Anti-Gun Bill

This week, anti-gun politicians in the Vermont House and Senate passed S. 209, "an act relating to prohibiting unserialized firearms and unserialized firearms frames and receivers." This bill, which mandates all firearms and firearm parts to be serialized and creates “gun free” zones around all voting locations, now heads to Governor Phil Scott's desk. NRA members and Second Amendment supporters are urged to contact Governor Scott and request that he VETO this extreme anti-gun bill. Click the TAKE ACTION button below to contact Governor Scott NOW.

S. 209 seeks to implement failed California-style policies that require serialization of firearms and firearm parts. The ambiguous term “ghost gun” is an invention of anti-gun advocates to restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens. First and foremost, a prohibited individual is prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm regardless of how the firearm is assembled. If passed, this law would require law-abiding gun-owners to contact government agencies and obtain serial numbers whenever they purchase critical parts for their firearms. This will only impact law-abiding citizens, because criminals will ignore this law.

S. 209 also bans the carrying of firearms at any voting location, creating hundreds of dangerous "gun free zones" on Election Day throughout the state. Additionally, this bill would turn otherwise law-abiding gun owners into criminals for the simple act of crossing arbitrary lines on Election Day.
