Colorado: Multiple Anti-Gun Bills on the Move!

On Wednesday, the Colorado General Assembly passed multiple gun control bills out of various committees, and they are now eligible for either a vote on the Floor of their respective chambers or have been referred to additional committees for further review.

House Floor

The House Business Affairs & Labor Committee passed SB 24-066 and it is now eligible for vote on the House Floor. SB24-066, mandates the use of merchant category codes by payment processors to identify firearm, firearm accessories, and ammunition purchases. Please use the button below to contact your State Representative today and tell them to OPPOSE SB24-066!

 

Senate Floor

The Senate Judiciary Committee revived and passed SB24-131 with amendments, expanding "sensitive places" where firearms cannot be lawfully carried, after previously tabling the bill. The vote happened suddenly, with little advanced notice and no additional public input. The amendments narrow the newly expanded "sensitive areas" however, the legislation remains a significant infringement on the rights of law-abiding gun owners.  This legislation could come up for a vote on the Senate floor at any time. Please use the button below to contact your State Senator and urge them to OPPOSE SB24-131!


House Finance Committee

The House Finance Committee could be voting on two significant anti-gun bills in the coming weeks. HB24-1349, creates an 11% excise tax on the sale of all firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition purchases, has been scheduled for a hearing on April 1. Additionally, HB24-1353, creating a state permitting system for federally license firearm dealers, has been referred to committee but not scheduled at this time.
