Colorado: Mandatory Training Requirements Bill Passes House and Multiple Anti-Gun Bills to be Heard in Committee

This week in the Colorado General Assembly, anti-gun extremists have set their sights on concealed carry permit holders and certified instructors. HB 24-1174 was recently passed on the House floor and will soon be considered in the Senate. Additionally, the House has scheduled policy hearings on four anti-gun bills this week. Please see below for more information on the bills, hearings and Take Action buttons to contact your legislators and sign up to testify either remote or in person by clicking here!

Thursday March 14 at 1:30 p.m.

House Business Affairs and Labor Committee

HB24-1270 would force gun owners to obtain liability insurance to purchase and carry a gun in Colorado.

HB24- 1353 creates a state permitting system for federally regulated firearm license holders. The new permit adds one more layer of scrutiny and potentially state sanctioned harassment of these already highly regulated businesses.

Thursday, March 14th at 1:30 p.m.

House Education Committee

HB24-1310, strips teachers and other school professionals of their ability to carry a concealed firearm on school grounds. Armed school personnel can act as first responders and robbing them of the ability to protect their students and coworkers only makes schools less safe. This bill also ends the very successful FASTER Colorado program, and bans carry on college campuses.

Please use the button below to contact members of the House Education Committee and urge them to OPPOSE this bill!

Wednesday, March 13th at 1:30 p.m.

House Judiciary Committee

HB 24-1348 mandates that firearms stored in unattended vehicles must be kept in a locked hard-sided container that is kept out of view or within the locked trunk of the vehicle. The bill creates civil penalties for infractions.

Please use the button below to contact members of the House Judiciary Committee and urge them to OPPOSE this bill!
