Kentucky: "Red Flag" Bill Referred to Committee

On Friday, March 1^st, Senate Bill 13 was referred to Senate Veteran, Military Affairs, and Public Protection Committee. The Crisis Aversion and Rights Retention (CARR) Act is nothing more than standard "red flag" laws under a disguised name. Sponsored by anti-gun Republican Whitney Westerfield (R-03), and cosponsored by 2 antigun democrats, this bill is truly a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Understand, there is absolutely no “Rights Retention” under SB 13. Please contact members of the Senate Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection today and urge them to STOP SB 13.

Commonly called “Red Flag” or "extreme risk protection orders," these suspend an individual's Second Amendment Rights, not because of a criminal conviction or mental adjudication, but on the basis of third-party accusations. Further, these orders are severely lacking in due process. Senator Westerfield has attempted to rebrand his legislation as “Crisis Aversion and Rights Retention” to try and hide the blatant disregard for this attack on constitutional rights. He has wanted to impose such a New York-style scheme upon Kentuckians for years, and has now made gun control his final priority since he has chosen to not run for re-election.
