On Thursday, April 1, the Texas House Committee on State Affairs will hold hearings on two important NRA-supported measures: House Bill 1500 by Rep. Cole Hefner (R-Mount Pleasant) and House Bill 2558 by Rep. Giovanni Capriglione (R-Southlake)

HB 1500 establishes that firearms and ammunition manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, suppliers and retailers are essential businesses that shall not be prohibited by state or local officials from operating during a declared disaster or emergency,

HB 2558 discourages banks, payment processors, insurers, and other financial services providers from discriminating against members of the firearm and ammunition industries.  The legislation prohibits businesses that engage in this practice from contracting with governmental entities in the Lone Star State.  Taxpayer dollars should not be used to benefit the bottom-line of corporations that are actively working to erode the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Texans.

Please contact the members of the State Affairs Committee and urge them to support HB 1500 & HB 2558 (click on their actual photos for individual office emails and phones, do NOT call the committee clerk.)  Texas House of Representatives : House Committee on State Affairs

The committee will meet at 8:00am in Room 140 of the John H. Reagan Building, located just northwest of the Texas Capitol on the corner of Colorado & 15th Streets.  If you plan to attend, information about parking and in-person witness registration can be found at the links below.  Masks are required to be worn in the committee room, except when testifying.
