Maryland: House Committee to Consider HPRB Repeal

Tomorrow at 1:00pm, the House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to consider House Bill 1343, legislation to repeal the Handgun Permit Review Board.  If you are able, please attend this hearing in opposition to this anti-gun legislation. Also, please contact committee members and urge them to OPPOSE House bill 1343.

House Bill 1343 is the cross-filed version of Senate Bill 1000.  This legislation seeks to remove citizen oversight regarding the appeals process for Maryland wear and carry permits.  Current law allows individuals who are denied a wear and carry permit to file an appeal to the Handgun Permit Review Board, a group of five members of the public appointed by the Governor.  HB 1343 would dissolve this board, thus removing all public oversight, and make all appeals be filed through an administrative office.

Again, please attend this hearing in opposition to HB 1343 if you are able to. Please also contact members of the House Judiciary Committee and urge them to OPPOSE House Bill 1343.
