New Jersey: Update on Assembly Gun Bills and Trenton Gun Owner Rally

Last week, your NRA-ILA joined our state association, the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs, and dozens of other New Jersey gun owners in testifying against a package of seven gun control bills which were heard in the Assembly Judiciary Committee.  Despite overwhelming opposition, the committee voted to pass six of the seven measures.  Only A.1016, which requires the sale of smart guns, was held.   However, the bills were double referenced to another committee, and that committee has canceled its March 5th hearing.  In addition, the next Senate Law & Public Safety Committee which was scheduled for March 8 has also been canceled.  We will continue to fight these anti-gun bills and any new restrictions coming out of Trenton.

In other important news, NRA and ANJRPC are teaming up to host a morning rally of gun owners in Trenton on March 26.  Please save the date.  This is an important date because both chambers have scheduled voting sessions and everyone will be in town.  The event will take place at the Trenton War Memorial, one block from the Statehouse.  We plan to walk over to the Capitol and fill the chambers and respectfully make our presence known.   NRA-ILA will continue to update with further details as we approach the date.  It's important that gun owners show a strong presence in Trenton and make our voices heard.  It's important that we continue to put pressure on lawmakers to oppose these bills.  We would also like to thank all of the NRA members who attended the hearing last week and/or contacted their legislators.
