California: Senate Passes Bill to Increase Storage Requirements for Dealers - Assembly Passes Pro-Hunting Legislation

Today, May 31, the California Senate passed Senate Bill 464 by a vote of 25-14. SB 464, sponsored by Senator Jerry Hill (D-13) would increase the storage and security requirements of all firearms in the inventory of a licensed firearms dealer.  California already has some of the strictest laws in the country regarding how dealers must store and secure firearms.  This bill simply places more costs and mandates on law-abiding business owners. SB 464 will now be transmitted to the Assembly for further consideration.  Please use our TAKE ACTION button below to contact your state Assembly Member to urge him/her to OPPOSE SB 464.

Also today, the Assembly passed pro-hunting Assembly Bill 521 by a vote of 67-4. AB 521 sponsored by Assembly Member Jim Frazier (D-11), would significantly reduce California’s high-priced resident elk tags from nearly $450 to $100 and would additionally create an allocation of an apprentice (youth) elk tags for $20 per tag. Currently, youth hunters pay the same price for elk tags as adults. AB 521 will now move to the Senate for further consideration
