Tomorrow, the Kansas Senate is scheduled to consider House Bill 2278. This anti-gun legislation has been implanted with Senate Bill 235 using a procedural move called a “gut-and-go” amendment. This move was undertaken to completely circumvent the House committee process as well as any official public input or chance to amend in the House. Please contact your state Senator and immediately urge them to oppose House Bill 2278 unless amended with NRA-supported language.
House Bill 2278 seeks to make it unlawful for individuals to carry a firearm for self-defense into a state or municipal-owned medical care facility, including the Kansas University Hospital. This legislation goes further to prevent the lawful carry of a firearm into community health centers and state or municipal-owned adult care homes. This bill is a solution in search of a problem, and it places an arbitrary boundary on your right to self-defense.
