Escambia County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an armed home invasion on Talladega Trail early Saturday, according to an ECSO Facebook post. While en route to the scene, deputies learned that the suspect and homeowner had exchanged gunfire. During the incident, a homeowner was wounded and another was taken hostage by the suspect. When deputies arrived on the scene the suspect pointed his gun at them forcing a deputy to fire their service weapon, the post said. The homeowner and suspect were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident, as is standard procedure in an officer-involved shooting."
