Tonight, September 8, the Maine IFW and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be holding a public hearing to discuss range operations at the Summerhaven (Augusta) Shooting Range. This hearing will begin at 6:30pm at the Camden National Bank Ice Vault. Please consider attending this hearing and contributing to the discussion about range operations and regulations.
The Department is in the process of establishing rulemaking for Department-owned shooting ranges. Items included in the proposed rulemaking include: expectations for behavior of the public, a mechanism for law enforcement to respond to users that display disrespectful or potentially dangerous behavior at the ranges, hours of operation, use of Range Safety Officers, minimum age limits and target and firearm specifications.
