California: Public Safety Committees of the Senate and Assembly Pass Deeply Flawed Anti-Gun Legislation

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

Yesterday, the public safety committees of the Senate and Assembly pushed multiple politically motivated anti-gun bills.

Anti-gun advocates are using the recent tragedies in efforts to restrict the Second Amendment and self-defense in California.   The resulting bills are misguided and do nothing to address crime.  Rather, they are designed only to restrict the rights of lawful and responsible gun owners.

Unfortunately, both the Senate and Assembly public safety committees passed the wrongheaded anti-gun legislation.  The bills now will be considered by the Senate and Assembly appropriations committees.

You can find out more on the Public Safety hearings by reading Patrick McGreevy's article, Tempers flare as lawmakers move forward with a dozen gun-control bills in wake of Orlando shooting, posted yesterday to latimes.com.

Please contact the members of the Senate Appropriations Committee HERE or use our TAKE ACTION button below and urge them to OPPOSE AB 1664, AB 1673, AB 1674, AB 1695, and AB 2607.  Please click here to read our previous alert with an explanation of all the bills.

Please contact the members of the Assembly Appropriations Committee HERE or useour TAKE ACTION button below and urge them to OPPOSE SB 880, SB 894, SB 1235, SB 1407, and SB 1446.  Please click here to read our previous alert with an explanation of all the bills.

The NRA would like to thank the California legislators who stood up for your Second Amendment rights today and ask that they and their colleagues on the appropriations committees carry on the fight.

Don’t forget to forward this alert to your family, friends, fellow gun owners and sportsmen.
