JoShanda Odem was at home in in Antioch, Tenn. when she heard knocking at the door. Using a peephole, Odem determined that the man at her door was a stranger. Odem retreated to her bedroom, retrieved a .357-caliber revolver, and called the police. Eventually, the man broke inside the apartment and entered Odem’s bedroom. Odem responded to the threat by shooting the home invader once, prompting him to flee.
A short time later the wounded intruder sought treatment at a local hospital; he was subsequently captured. Police determined that the home invader was free on bond for an unrelated felony charge at the time of the incident. (Tennessean, Nashville, Tenn. 03/18/16)
