Nevada: Campus Carry Legislation in Trouble with Time Running Out

Last week, the Nevada Assembly passed Assembly Bill 487, critical campus carry legislation introduced as an emergency measure.  With time quickly running out in the 2015 Legislative Session, AB 487 has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee but has not yet been scheduled for a hearing.  Having intimated that he has no interest in hearing this legislation, Judiciary Chairman, state Senator Greg Brower (R-15), needs to hear from you immediately!  Members are encouraged to contact Senator Greg Brower TODAY and urge him to schedule AB 487 for a hearing.  Also, please contact members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and urge them to SUPPORT AB 487.  Contact information for Senator Brower is provided below.  Please click the button below to take action now!

As previously reported, Senate Bill 175 has passed its final vote in the Nevada legislature.  SB 175 has now been sent to the desk of Governor Brian Sandoval where it awaits his consideration.  Please contact Governor Sandoval today and politely urge him to sign Senate Bill 175.

SB 175 makes drastic improvements to Nevada’s gun laws.  This is done by improving Nevada’s preemption statutes, ensuring consistency in gun laws throughout the Silver State and most importantly, abolishing handgun registration in Clark County.  SB 175 also improves the self-defense statutes by extending the castle doctrine to include automobiles, protects from civil liability those who have used force justifiably, and creates a rebuttable presumption in state law for when a person is acting in self-defense.  Finally, SB 175 expands the list of out-of-state permits that will be recognized to carry concealed in Nevada.
