In November, Alabamians will vote on a proposed amendment to Amendment 597 of the state constitution, which furthers citizens’ right to hunt and fish within regulation. While the original amendment granting the right to hunt and fish was created in 1996, the proposed amendment specifies that public hunting and fishing is to be the preferred method of wildlife conservation and management efforts.
