The fight for the Second Amendment rights of Marylanders to be freed from over-zealous gun control measures has begun. As previously reported, with support from the NRA, Maryland citizen groups filed legal challenges to the ban on semi-automatic rifles and standard capacity magazines, as well as the implementation of the Handgun Qualification License requirement that took effect today.
In the first round, a federal judge declined to issue a temporary restraining order, but urged the parties to move forward quickly towards a full hearing on the merits of the challenges. Attorneys will report to the Court this week on a schedule to move the cases along promptly. The NRA will keep you informed on the progress of our legal efforts to restore Second Amendment rights in Maryland.
