Wednesday, June 12, 2013

The Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is entering into Rule Development for Public Use Rule 40E-7, F.A.C., as it pertains to public access and nature-based recreation on District lands.  Nature-based recreation includes hunting and fishing.

Review the public Draft Rule here.  A map of the property under the management of the SFWMD, which includes the Everglades, can be found here

The Draft Rule will be presented for public comment at the SFWMD’s Water Resources Advisory Commission Recreational Issues Workshop on June 17th, 2013, from 5-8 pm at the District Headquarters in West Palm Beach.  For additional information or to provide comments on the rule, please click here or contact BJ Kattel at (561) 682-6640 or by e-mail.

The NRA strongly encourages its members who hunt on land within the jurisdiction of the SFWMD to attend the workshop to ensure that hunting remains an important public use of these lands.
