North Dakota: Pro-Gun Bills Stalled in Senate

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Contact your state Senator today and urge him or her to act on important pro-gun measures

Bills of importance for gun owners, sportsmen and supporters of the Second Amendment are currently pending in the North Dakota Senate.  The Senate Judiciary Committee gave “do not pass” recommendations for several pro-gun bills last week.  While this committee vote cannot kill these bills, your urgent action is needed to ensure these measures advance in the legislative process.  The pending pro-gun bills are:

House Bill 1283, sponsored by state Representative Kim Koppelman (R-13), as amended, would allow concealed weapons permit (CWP) holders to carry their lawfully possessed firearms in a church building or other place of worship with permission from the primary religious leader. (Received an 82-11 vote in the House)

House Bill 1215, sponsored by state Representative Rick Becker (R-07), as amended, would allow CWP holders to carry their lawfully possessed firearms in schools with permission from the governing body of the school. (Received a 60-33 vote in the House)

House Bill 1183, sponsored by state Representative Roscoe Streyle (R-3), would prohibit state and local officers and agents from assisting the federal government with respect to enforcement of federal gun control laws passed after January 1, 2013. (Received a 50-42 vote in the House)

These bills are important for law-abiding gun owners in North Dakota.  Please call AND e-mail your state Senator TODAY and urge him or her to support and advance these bills in the legislative process.  Contact information for your state Senator can be found here.
