Connecticut: Thousands of Second Amendment Supporters Attend Important Lobby Day

Monday, March 11, 2013

The fight is far from over—anti-gun legislators are determined to quickly pass sweeping gun control measures and your active support is still needed to protect our firearms freedoms

Your National Rifle Association, in conjunction with the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the Coalition of Connecticut Sportsmen and the Connecticut Citizens Defense League, hosted a critical Lobby Day today.  Over 3,000 Second Amendment activists descended on Hartford to communicate to their state legislators that they oppose legislation that would infringe on their Right to Keep and Bear Arms and inhibit their inherent right to self-defense.

The NRA thanks all who attended this important event and signaled to their state legislators that restricting the rights of law-abiding citizens will do nothing to curb criminal misuse of firearms.  However, some anti-gun legislators are still determined to oppress your Second Amendment rights in the so-called “Constitution State.”

This Thursday, March 14, the Public Safety and Security Committee will hold an important public hearing at 10:00 a.m. in Room 2C of the Legislative Office Building.  As currently scheduled, this committee will hear eleven different gun control bills.  Click here for the full committee agenda.  While these bills vary in the degree of extremism, the most disconcerting is Senate Bill 1076.  SB 1076 would ban commonly owned firearms, implement a gun rationing scheme and mandate gun registration.

That is why we need you to attend this important committee hearing this Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and voice your opposition to these misguided pieces of legislation.  If unable to attend, please call AND e-mail members of the Public  Safety and Security Committee and respectfully express your opposition to this legislation, and hold them accountable by asking how they plan to vote on these measures.  Click here to identify committee members and their contact information.

The NRA thanks you for your dedication to this cause.  We cannot win this fight without your help.
