Today, the South Dakota Senate State Affairs Committee voted unanimously to pass Senate Bill 166. This bill, introduced by Senator Larry Rhoden (R-29) and Representative Gary Cammack (R-29), would make improvements for South Dakota residents who carry a concealed firearm for self-defense by extending the validity of the state’s Permit to Carry a Concealed Pistol from four to five years. SB 166 is now eligible for a final vote in the state Senate.
Although a date has not been scheduled for a final vote, please contact your state Senator today and urge him or her to support this simple, but important, reform for law-abiding gun owners. Your NRA-ILA will continue to keep you updated as more details become available.
