Unfortunately the Conference Committee decided to remove a provision from Senate Bill 88 which would have created “permitless carry” and committee members failed to act on another amended version which was supported by the NRA.
Despite the overall support for the concept of “permitless carry” in the legislature, the committee rejected the amended version because of the rift in support among state gun rights groups. Yesterday, a final attempt by the NRA and others to bring consensus among state grassroots organizations was successful, however this success occurred after the conference committee deadline had passed.
