NRA-PVF Endorses Tom Ganley for U.S. House of Representatives in Ohio’s 13th Congressional District

Friday, September 10, 2010

Fairfax, Va.-- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Tom Ganley for election to the U.S. House of Representatives in Ohio's 13th Congressional District this November.

“Tom Ganley proudly supports gun owners and hunters in Ohio,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "His commitment to preserving the Second Amendment has earned him an ‘AQ’ rating and the NRA-PVF’s endorsement.”

Ganley supports national right-to-carry reciprocity and efforts to reform the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. He also opposes reenacting the Clinton gun and magazine ban and believes sportsmen should have access to federally owned or administered lands for hunting, fishing, trapping and recreational shooting.

He was named “Man of the Year” by the Cuyahoga County Police Chiefs Association for his leadership and outstanding support of law enforcement in the Cleveland area and received the Louis E. Peters Memorial Service Award in 2007 – the highest honor the FBI can bestow on a civilian.

Tom Ganley will be a strong voice in fighting ongoing efforts by anti-gun politicians to dismantle the Second Amendment.

In contrast, his opponent, Betty Sutton, has consistently opposed the Second Amendment, earning an ‘F’ rating from the NRA-PVF. She accepted campaign contributions from national gun ban groups like the Brady Campaign and was endorsed by them in 2006 and 2008. Sutton’s long list of anti-gun support includes: cosponsoring legislation to regulate gun shows out of business; voting against the repeal of the D.C. gun ban/registration statute that would restore the right of self-defense to law-abiding residents of our nation’s capital; refusing to sign the pro-gun congressional “friend of the court” briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court in the historic McDonald and Heller cases; and refusing to sign the letter to Attorney General Eric Holder expressing opposition to the reenactment of the failed 1994 Clinton ban on semi-automatic firearms.

Cox continued, “We ask all gun-owners and hunters in Ohio’s 13th District to elect Tom Ganley to the U.S. House on November 2nd.”

Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.
